It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Hello families, partners, and community as we celebrate breast cancer month our hearts go out to all that have experienced breast cancer, known someone who had or has breast cancer, and the families that had to provide the support and love to someone who had breast cancer.
Our gate in front of the school is surrounding with the names of survivors and the names of the people who battled breast cancer and are no longer here with us.
Let me share a few statistics about breast cancer:
· MEN Approximately 0.5- 1% of breast cancers occur in men.
· 1 of 8 Women in the United Sates will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.
· According to the American Cancer Society, when breast cancer is detected early, and is localized stage, the 5-year relative survival rate is 99%.
· Black women are more likely to die from breast cancer than women of any other racial or ethnic group.
· There are currently more than four million women with a history of breast cancer in the United States this includes women currently being treated and women who have finished treatment.
